The agenda

What a monthly meeting includes

About 90 minutes. These segments are listed in no particular order; the final order and timing will be set later and can shift for a guest teacher or the topic at hand. Topics may also change before we officially launch.

Food, snacks, and refreshments are provided at every meeting.

  1. 5 min

    Welcome & purpose

A brief welcome and the goals for the meeting.

  2. 5 min

    Scripture & reflection

Connecting faith, family life, and responsibility toward our neighbors.

  3. 20 min

    Community update

City council and school board developments, and a preview of upcoming agendas.

  4. 10 min

    “Did you know?” civic lesson

One practical skill: finding a meeting, reading an agenda, or responding as a citizen.

  5. 15 min

    Elections & how they work

Voting, eligibility, filing, and timelines, using official sources.

  6. 15 min

    Discussion & follow-up

Questions, and volunteers to research an issue or attend a public meeting.

  7. 15 min

    Public-speaking practice

Learn one skill, then practice short remarks with constructive feedback.

  8. 5 min

    Closing & prayer

Recap commitments and pray for the city, its leaders, and its families.

Between meetings

Stay informed and show up together

Members follow developing issues and newly released agendas, attend public meetings as they choose, and bring their observations back to the group. Our Attend Together events are group visits to city council and school board meetings; read the agenda beforehand on the official site, then debrief at the next monthly meeting.

Bring a guest. Attend Together visits are open to non-members, and they're the best time to invite a friend, neighbor, or coworker. Guests see local government at work, they're encouraged to get involved, and it's how the Council grows.

Members may share what they observe at public meetings. Members who hold public office listen but do not comment on matters before their own board.
